Spider-Man will return to theaters next July 28 with the premiere of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, his first solo film set within the Marvel Movie Universe. This is a co-production between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios, the result of the agreement that both companies made a couple of years ago. But why did Disney decide to let one of its affiliates carry out this agreement and produce a movie that would not see any benefit from ticket sales?
As The Wall Street Journal recalls, according to Screenrant, the agreement between the two companies was carried out under the following conditions: Sony would pay the production of the film (estimated to be about 175 million dollars) taking with it all the collection at the box office, While Disney would take all the profits from merchandising sales in addition to being able to use the character inside other films belonging to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as we could see last year in ‘Captain America: Civil War’.
Marvel Studios, owned by The Walt Disney Company, was able to recover the merchandising rights of the well-known Spider-Man in 2011, an aspect for which he is interested in producing a new movie of the character to be able to release for sale a new roll of toys , Which clearly explains the interest of the company of Mickey mouse to ally itself with Sony to carry out ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
A new Spider-Man
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ will be the first movie starring Spider-Man played by Tom Holland, who we could already see inside the character in ‘Captain America: Civil War’, a new version of the well-known
Marvel superhero who seeks to offer Something different from what we saw in the trilogy directed by Sam Raimi or in the two tapes of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’.
The director of the film, Jon Watts, has offered some statements about the Cinemablend medium, mentioning certain changes that have been introduced in the character, such as why in this new version of Spider-Man the character will lack its meaning arachnid:
“I felt we had seen a lot of the arachnid sense in previous films, so we did not want to get into it in the same way as the previous films, but I think it’s a very interesting aspect to explore.”
It will be next July 28 when we can discover in cinemas all the new surprises that we have prepared this new Spider-Man.
