A week after Doug Liman’s departure, Argentines Andrés Muschietti and Damian Szifron will be neck and neck to stage the live adaptation of the comics DC “Justice League Dark”.
After the defections of Guillermo Del Toro and Doug Liman, the position of director for Justice League Dark remains vacant. According to our source reported that, Warner Bros would have approached Andrès Muschietti, director of Mamá and Ça, the highly anticipated film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, the first part of which will be released on September 20th.
The filmmaker is competing with his Argentine compatriot Damian Szifron, to whom we owe the sketches film Les Nouveaux Sauvages with Ricardo Darin. This black and creaking comedy was presented in official competition in Cannes in 2014 and was nominated for the Oscar for the best foreign film in 2015. Szifron is attached since 2015 to the adaptation of the series The Man who was worth 3 billion with Mark Wahlberg .Justice League Dark tells how a group of superheroes form to stop a madman who seeks to destroy humanity through old stolen grimoires. The League of Darkness would consist of the magician Zatanna, Deadman, Etrigan the Demon, the Creature of the Marsh and John Constantine.
By 2015, Guillermo Del Toro had left the project because of a busy schedule. The same goes for Doug Liman, who is heading for Chaos Walking, the first installment of a young adult saga by Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland.
