Peter Jackson revealed a first concept art of his next production, “Mortal Engines”, steampunk and futuristic project. Expected release in the United States in December 2018.
Peter Jackson revealed the first concept art of Mortal Engines, his new production. Adapted from the novels of Philip Reeve, it takes place on a dying Earth where humans live in giant and moving cities. When young Tracy City resident Tom Natsworthy meets a young rebel, Hester, living in the Outlands, his life will change forever.
Robbie Sheehan (Misfits, Fortitude) will play Tom Natsworthy and Hera Hilmar (Anna Karenina) will be Hester Shaw. This first concept art shows that the intention is to stick to the aesthetic universe of the world created by Reeve.
The project comes in a tense context for saga adaptations for young adults. Hunger Games ended two years ago, and Divergente can not produce a last movie to close the franchise. As for Power Rangers, the film did not meet the success expected by his studio.
Mortal Engines is a literary saga of 4 books, and this first film opus will be brought to the screen by Christian Rivers, collaborator of Peter Jackson having worked on the special effects of the films Lord of the Rings, King Kong and on the first Hobbit.
