Her character, Michelle, hides a well known character.
Since Disney Channel Zendaya star was hired to give Tom Holland a reply in Spider-Man: Homecoming, rumors are going on about his role. Officially, she plays Michelle, a classmate of Peter Parker, but fans wonder if behind this name would actually hide Mary Jane Watson, the hero’s girlfriend. The actress is formal: she does not play Mary Jane, nor any “love interest” from Spider-Man, for that matter. On the other hand, his character will be very crucial in this reboot of Disney and Sony. Warning, spoilers!
A children’s book, released as part of the film’s release, entitled Spider-Man: Homecoming – The Junior Novel, reveals the true role of Zendaya, who will actually be called Michelle Toomes onscreen. Yes, like the great villain Vautour, of his civil name Adrian Toomes, played by Michael Keaton. The actress would embody the daughter of Peter’s opponent in this version. In comics, the Vulture has a daughter, but it’s called Valeria. The first name Michelle was thus effectively chosen to blur the tracks. Once an adult, Valeria becomes an agent of the S.H.I.E.L.D and does everything to hide his relationship with the Vulture. Will Michelle Toomes follow this model in Homecoming and its sequels? Answer on July 12th.
